Later in the year it will be broadcast on screen to over 150 countries through the Thai Global Netwoork. This year celebrates 75 years since the first parade in 1933. The parade has grown from a handful of floats, walking sets and bands to a 3.3 km parade with 57 floats, 15 bands and 7 walking sets. Over 1800 characters will be in the parade and over 3000 participate in one way or another to produce this iconic event. This year the parade will be lead by 75 dancers in Top Hat and Tails to repersent the past. They will dance to the music of the Band of the South Australia Police and 75 voices from Young Adelaide Voice who are renowned for their many successful concerts in Australia and overseas. A new TV screen float will film the audience live on a 4 x 3 meter screen so that through the use of technology the audience will participate in the parade. The Pageant Queen float will ride close to Nipper and Nimble this year and all will be white. The only colour here will be the flowers that adorn these three magnificent floats. A huge Christmas cupcake designed through a schools competition and produced by the pageant team will take part and Father Christmas will be delivered to David Jones on a brand new float with reindeer ready to ride. Audiences will also be treated to a flyover by International Airobatics champion Chris Sperou in his red byplane.
