Anthems
Brian
Gilbertson has performed many anthems in several languages in various
countries, including France, Thailand, Germany, Austria, Italy, Great
Britain, Mauritius and Australia for visiting countries.
The
response is always exceptional and reflects a genuine respect for
Brian's performances and the time he takes to accurately represent
the language to be performed.
The
diplomatic exercise promotes significant goodwill between Australia
and the countries with which Brian from
time to time connects . Brian
is greatful to the many people who have helped him prepare these anthems
to accurately reflect the mother tongue from which they derive.
The most
memorable performance was in 1996 when Brian became the first Australian
Singer to perform both the Australian anthem and a foreign anthem
on Australia Day for the visiting Sri Lankan Test team. This set a
precedent which has been followed at many subsequent international
sporting events in Australia.
Other
highlights include anthems at Steve Waugh and Ian Healy's 100th test
matches and the Royal Thai anthem for members of the Royal family
in Bankok on two days notice.
